Secretary’s Report: The
Minutes for March21 were read.
Treasurer’s Report: a/o 3/23/15 the account balance is $2,207.49.
Motion (Haynes) to accept both reports as read, Seconded (Tissue). Carried.
Dr. Jim Shea, a former
anesthesiologist and Army Captain is a new member prospect and was in
attendance.
Speaker: Loreli Brandt,
Branch Manager and Head Librarian at the Cayucos and she possesses a Masters
Degree in Library and Informational Sciences from San Jose State University.
Loreli is only recently assigned to the Cayucos branch but she emphasized their
100’ patio and the new furniture obtained via a grant. Cayucos has several
computers and devices to access online books and periodicals and Loreli
encouraged all to visit www.slolibrary.org to
see the databases available free with your library card.
Specifically, Loreli
mentioned Global Road Warrior for travelers and Ancestry.com for genealogists,
both of which can be accessed through the library.
On 05/2/15, Friends of the
Library at 310 B Street, Cayucos will have 10 local authors will appear for
book signings. SLO libraries are part of the Black Gold system which provides a
courier service as far south as Ventura and county libraries also participate
in the Inter-Library Loan program which has the nominal fee of $3.00 per book.
Loreli’s presentation was much appreciated and she was presented with a cannon
and certificate.
