Central Coast Chapter Minutes for January 16, 2016

Meeting to Order: 1:04 PM
Pledges of Allegiance and SAR were led by VP Bill Siler presiding in Pres Haynes’ stead.
Guest Speaker: John Siler introduced LaVonne Rae Andrews who along with her husband Dr. Don Welsh are ministers at the Center for Spiritual Living in Templeton. Along with her ministry, Ms. Andrews is a member of the Native American Caucus, Screen Actors Guild and has authored a book titled Divine Dialogues. Ms. Andrews has Tlingit tribal ancestry and Alaskan roots.
The accomplished Ms. Andrews owned and operated a hair salon in Carmel for 21 years and completed ministerial school and college. Ms. Andrews has also been a professional actor for 20 years. The latter profession provided for numerous anecdotes including when she crashed the set of Don Juan DeMarco  (Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando)and ended up earning her Screen Actors Guild card as a result. Following that LaVonne received TV parts in Days of Our Lives, The Millers and Banshee. Being designated as the lead actor in a Sears advertisement earned her $18K for 4 hours of work. Ms. Andrews presentation was warmly received and VP Siler promised her a cannon.
Writers Group guests were introduced and Dave Tissue brought a prospective member.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes from December were read aloud. Motion (Tissue) Seconded (J. Siler). Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: After payment to National and State societies, the current account balance is $2469.37.
New Business: None

December SAR Meeting Highlights


Highlights of Central Coast Chapter meeting.

Central Coast Chapter Minutes for December 19, 2015
Meeting to Order: 1:07 PM

Pledges of Allegiance & SAR

Jim Fosdyck, VP of CASSAR (Southern Section) was introduced and he presented Chapter President Russ Haynes with a streamer (Wreaths Across America) for his contribution and a medal/certificate for his sponsorship of 10 new SAR members.
Jim stated that new member applications are taking 4 weeks while supplementals are taking 14 weeks to process. Jim also mentioned that he anticipated a directive from the National concerning Megan’s Law.
Donations are being solicited for the SAR Museum in Louisville and for the Honor Flights program. Jim encouraged chapter members to attend the CASSAR state meeting next April in Sacramento. Ladies Auxillary participation was also encouraged.
Guest Speaker: John Siler introduced Jordan Cunningham GOP candidate for state assembly 35th District. Jordan graduated Atascadero High, received his BA in Physics from Point Loma Nazarene and his JD from Boalt Hall at UC Berkeley.
Jordan worked as a law clerk and attorney for the DOJ in Washington DC, then returned to the Central Coast to toil as a SLO County Deputy District Attorney. Presently, Jordan has a law practice with his wife in Templeton and he is President of the SLO Taxpayers Assn. Jordan’s platform includes addressing what he believes is a hostile business climate in CA. Jordan was presented a canon by Pres. Haynes.
New Business: The slate of chapter officers was approved by acclamation.  New officers for 2016 are:  President, Russell Haynes; Vice President, Bill Siler; Secretary Chris Scrimiger; and Treasurer, Earl Rader.
Treasurer’s Report:  Account balance $3313.10.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes from November, 2015 were read. Motion by (E. Rader) to approve minutes, seconded (G. Cooper). Motion passed.
