Betty Winholtz
a short biography
I am a 31-year resident of Morro Bay, hailing from Iowa. My Masters degree is in Student Development through the Counselor Education department at The University of Iowa. After working professionally for 7 years in Iowa, I was ready for a change.
I moved to Morro Bay sight unseen. With a hiring freeze at CalPoly and Cuesta at the time, I looked for other work. I was hire by Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes where I learned their unique tutoring program for teaching reading. After 5 years, I started my own private tutoring business in Morro Bay, where my focus is on math.
In addition, I develop an avocation: public service. I had been a member of a number of local groups including several community bands, MB History Association, Morro Bay Beautiful. After a couple of runs at elected office, I was elected to the Morro Bay City Counsel and serviced for 8 years. I am now a member of Citizens for Affordable Living (CAL), a volunteer group focused on getting the City of Morro Bay the best and least expensive wastewater treatment plant for our residents.
