TONY CIPOLLA our Guest Speaker for December

The next meeting of the Central Coast Chapter of SAR will be Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 1:00 PM, at IHOP Restaurant, Madonna Rd, SLO.

Our guest speaker will be:

TONY CIPOLLA

Tony Cipolla officially began serving with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office as Public Information Officer on July 2, 2012. Tony comes to the Sheriff's Office with a long and varied career in the broadcast news profession.

After graduating from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism, Tony went to work for two years as a writer and producer for Cable News Network (CNN) at their world headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. He spent the next three years as a news writer and field producer for KFMB-TV, the CBS affiliate in San Diego.

In 1989, Tony was offered an anchor/reporter position with KSBY-TV, the NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo. Tony spent the next 21 years there as the main evening anchor, reporter, and for two years he pulled double duty as the news director as well. During that time, Tony was honored to receive four EMMY’s, five Golden Mikes, and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for his work in broadcast news. From 2010-2012, Tony worked as a reporter and anchor for KCOY-TV, the CBS affiliate in Santa Maria. During this time, Tony was also an instructor for five years at Cal Poly, teaching upper level broadcast journalism courses.

Tony is the point of contact for all media requests dealing with the Sheriff’s Office. This role is vital in providing information to the media and ultimately to the public for all matters regarding the functions and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office.

I'm excited that Tony has graciously agreed to be our guest speaker for December.  I'd like to see all of our members at the meeting for a number of reasons.  In addition to a great and interesting guest speaker, we have to nominate and elect our officers for 2018, and all your votes are needed.

Hope to see you there.  Bring a family member or friend who may be interested in becoming a member of SAR.
Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Russ Haynes, President
